CSTSWG colleagues -

Last fall, I performed a strawman analysis of how the NASA Space Network
(SN) monitored data might be mapped onto the MD-CSTS. The report of that
analysis, "Using the CCSDS Monitored Data Cross Support Transfer Service
for Space Network Monitored Data", has been uploaded to the CWE at URL

http://cwe.ccsds.org/css/docs/CSS-CSTS/CWE%20Private/Future%20Services%2
0using%20Toolkit/MonitoredDataCSTS/SN_Mapping_to_MD-CSTS.pdf

or http://tinyurl.com/SN-Mapping-to-MD-CSTS

Section 3 of the report lists all of the monitored data and event
notifications that are currently generated by the SN, as documented in
the NASA specification Interface Control Document between the Space
Network and Customers for Service Management. This information can be
used as input to the monitored data dictionary that the CSTSWG is
beginning to compile. The reader will see that much of the information
carried in the SN "user performance data" messages is static
configuration information that essentially serves to fully-qualify the
monitored parameter values that are grouped with that static
information.

Section 4 is a proof-of-concept mapping onto the MD-CSTS. Some of the
details of the draft MD-CSTS specification have changed since the report
was written, but the fundamental approach is still valid.

Best regards,

John
