Please note that this may be subject to further revision but it is deemed to be essentially accurate for planning purposes. In general I believe the color coding is self-explanatory but I will note that the green shading indicates coordination such that personnel who support multiple working groups can prioritize to attend the meetings with the green shading in that particular working group. I look forward to seeing and working with many of you at the upcoming meetings in London. Magenta Book. Issue 1, in September 2008. According to the CCSDS Procedures Manual, CCSDS A02.1-Y-4 , Sec 6.2.7, it is now time (past time actually) to perform the RASDS Periodic Review. We will need to restart the System Architecture Working group (SAWG) in order to carry out this work and will be discussing how best to do this within SEA. There are several possible outcomes of this review: 1. Reaffirm the document as it is 2. Make minor technical changes 3. Revise it by adding new material (such as a Service or Operations viewpoint) 4. Revise it and re-cast using more modern SysML and UML methods to replace / augment the current PPT drawing approach 5. Retire the document (Silver status) Since the document is consistently in the upper 20-30 documents downloaded from the CCSDS web site, and it has been used by a number of different projects and documents both inside and outside CCSDS, it is probably pre-mature to retire it. If we decide to take on either option 3 or 4 we understand that it will bear some relationship to other working groups in CCSDS. The Services and Operations viewpoints should be of use to the CSS, MOIMS, and SOIS. The use of SysML and UML will align the RASDS with the best current Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) practices and some of the WG are already using these methods. I have solicited expressions of interest from the other WG's and the agencies that are represented in CCSDS. If you would like to contribute ideas, approaches, or support please contact me. We will discuss this within the SEA Plenary and hold working meetings during the week. It is unfortunate that the JPL reps to the TDE BoF will not be able to attend. However, we will use that time, and the meeting room, to initiate this effort. Those meetings times are as follows: Monday, 10 Nov, 1045-1230 Monday, 10 Nov, 1330-1750 Tuesday, Nov 11, 0845-1230 Tuesday, Nov 11, 1330-1730 Wednesday, Nov 12, no room assigned, but I will see if we can get one Friday, Nov 14, 1330-1600 (but I am tied up in the Boot Camp from 1330-1500 Topics for discussion * RASDS refresh plans (as above) * Glossary / ontology / information model for CCSDS * CCSDS Ontology / SC14 collaboration * Relationship between ontology and XML schema guidelines * SysML profile (if SysML is adopted for RASDS * Any other related topics If any of you have materials that you would like to contribute to this discussion please let me know and we'll schedule them up. Hope to see you there. Best regards, Peter -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:
