[CMC] Common Ground Invitations

Email Template for Common Ground invitations:

Dear <Name>

As you may know, CCSDS is a standardization organization, developing (currently) communication and data systems standards for space flight. Almost all institutional space missions are implementing CCSDS standards and many commercial missions do too. If you are not familiar with CCSDS I would invite you to take a look at the website or we can also set up a call, and I can give you an overview.

Understanding and fostering the growing role of industry also in standardization, CCSDS has, for the last two years, organized a so-called "Common Ground Forum" at the occasion of its technical meetings. We are planning to do the same during this year's fall meeting and the leading topic of the forum will be "Interoperability Standards for the New Space Economy". We are interested to learn more about the opinion and position of new space regarding CCSDS and its standardization program.

<Company Name> is a known New Space player in the data systems domain and your participation to the workshop would be a valuable contribution. We are very eager to learn and discuss the adoption of CCSDS standards and the feedback from your company regarding the standardization process.

Below some more (preliminary) information regarding the forum:

*            CCSDS Common Ground Forum Fall 2026
*            Where?: Matera, Italy
*            Date and time: Monday, 19  October, 11:00-15:00
*            Theme: Interoperability Standards for the New Space Economy
*            Presentation Slots: 10 Minutes + 5 Minutes Q&A, there will also be an interactive discussion round for further iteration on specifically interesting comments
*            Presentation can be done physically or virtually (physical presence is preferred as this would also better stimulate discussion and allows direct interaction with CCSDS working group representatives)
*            Presentations should address the following aspects:
o            Overview on company involvement in CCSDS standards or projects adopting starts (and why)
o            Are CCSDS standards convenient for you to use?
o            How is the company interacting (if at all) with CCSDS working groups?
o            What kind of relationship with CCSDS would you like to see?
o            How can the CCSDS standard process improve?
