Dear CMC members,
As per retirement of Mark Wong, the SLS-DC WG chair role will become vacant.
I would like to invite you to propose additional candidates till 18th October 2025.
For the moment we have the following candidate:
Aaron Kiely / NASA/JPL
Biography:
Aaron Kiely received the B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1989, M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering: Systems from the University of Michigan in 1990 and 1993 respectively, and an M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1999. Since 1993 he has worked in the Information Processing group of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory where he has published many papers on data compression. His data compression work has been used onboard the International Space Station and other spacecraft as well as multiple Mars Rovers.
He has served as chair of the SLS-MHDC and SLS-DC working groups for about two decades and has been a key contributor to CCSDS data compression standards even before and after his (apparently temporary) retirement as WG chair.
Regards,
Clemens / SLS-AD
