What is the status of this? It’s been 20 days.

The request is for a CESG poll to confirm Simon Singh (NASA GSFC)  as the SOIS-App working group chair. He is the only nominee and has the support of NASA’s Area Directors and Sami Asmar.

Dear CMC Members,

We have received one candidate nomination for the role of the MOIMS Deputy Area Director.

Mr. Stefan Gärtner has been nominated by DLR.

He is a senior ground segment system engineer and has been active in CCSDS/MOIMS since 2013. Specifically, he is s one of the main drivers behind the Spacecraft Monitoring & Control services set of standards. Mr. Gärtner has also been actively promoting CCSDS standards implementation and adoption through various fora including publications in high-profile conferences and journals.

Please find attached the nomination documents submitted by the DLR CMC representative.

I would kindly ask to take the opportunity of the upcoming CMC meetings to take a vote on the nomination.

The CCSDS Engineering Steering Group:

CONSIDERING that the position of SOIS-App WG  Chair is open,

And that NASA has nominated Simon Singh, who has been an active member of the WG, to fill that position;

And that Simon has the necessary experience in the WG and excellent credentials;

And RECOGNIZING that responsibility for recommending a WG Chair is an AD responsibility,

And that approving the WG Chair is a CESG responsibility (CCSDS Org & Proc, A02.1-Y-4c2, Sec 2.3.2.3 CESG Responsibilities, Clause n);

RESOLVES to request a CESG poll to approve the appointment of Simon Singh as the new SOIS-App WG Chair.

###BRIEF BIO###

Mr. Singh is Civil Servant in the Flight Software branch at Goddard Spaceflight Center. He is a software systems engineer with over 20 years’ experience in flight missions as both a civil servant and in industry. He has been part of CCSDS SOIS-App since Fall 2022 and CCSDS SIS-DTN since summer 2019.  Mr. Singh has worked with ISO and IEC standards committees and was a member of the US delegation to both ISO and IEC meetings.
