Subject: Response for CMC-A-2015-05-04

Dear all,

Please find below the response of the CSS Area to the action placed upon
them during the last CMC meeting

ciao

=====================================

Per the CMC meeting that occurred in Nagano Japan, the CSS Area has, as
one of its action items, the following:

CMC-A-2015-05-04
The Cross Support Services Area was requested to consider using
Terrestrial Generic File Transfer Service along with the CFDP File
Structure to replace the following two standards: CSTS Forward File
Service (CFFS) and CSTS Return File Service (CRFS).
Action: Cross Support Services Area
Due Date: 30 June 2015
Status: Open

The CSS AD interprets this action as indicating that the scope of CFFS and
CRFS shall be limited to injection into CFDP (forward direction) and
extraction from CFDP (return direction) for CFDP implementations that are
terminated at the ground station. This limits the scope of the activity
to just that of interfacing with CFDP. This may indeed replace CFFS and
CRFS but it is noted that there will still be a need for a normative
recommendation or profile for the interface to CFDP.

Provided that this interpretation is in accord with the CMC, the scoping
as indicated is accepted and the action can be closed.
