Yes, Mike, these points are important and we shall discuss it on Friday. I
think the way Goal 0 is formulated takes care of your first point, but we
need to have a consensus whether the Goal 0 is worded properly by starting
with innovation and not standardisation.

Juan: As an input to the Strategic Goals discussion, I wanted to point out
something that is in the CCSDS Brochure. We have two myths that we try to
dispel. I would think dispelling myths would be an important strategy.
MYTH: Standards stifle innovation.
FACT: CCSDS stimulates advanced technology by adopting, adapting, developing
and solidifying innovations with exposure to a wider community
MYTH: Standards delay implementation.
FACT: Not if the innovation is brought into the standards process early.
Delays result from reluctance to standardize, not from standardization
In the telecon, we can discuss whether these should be turned into strategic
goals statements.
