terminate Time Critical Onboard Network Services (TCONS)
Working Group

Results of CMC poll beginning 26 July 2006 and ending 25
August 2006:

ADOPT: 6 (85.71%) (ASI, CNES, DLR, INPE,
JAXA, NASA)
                ADOPT PROVISIONALLY: 1 (14.29%) (BNSC)
                REJECT: 0 (0%)
                REJECT WITH COMMENTS: 0 (0%)

BNSC: I believe that the resolution, as worded, does
not accurately reflect the situation that exists and I
propose a revised wording of the resolution.

The CMC,

CONSIDERING that the Space On-board Interface
Services(SOIS) Area Director has determined that there is
no currently identified need for immediate development of
transport and network layers for spacecraft onboard
interface services,

and NOTING that off-the-self (IP and CCSDS) transport and
network protocols are available if transport and network
layers capabilities are required,

and ACKNOWLEDGING that the SOIS Area Director has
requested to terminate the Working Group,

and NOTING that the resources, extensive work and
documentation (three draft books) of TCONS will be
redirected to the Sub-Network Services and Onboard
Applications Working Groups,

AUTHORIZES the termination of the Time Critical Onboard
Network Services (TCONS) Working Group.

BNSC: Is it permissible for the Blue Book to be
published while the prototyping work is still going on?
The schedule implies this will be the case.
DLR: It is not realistic to have a red book out in
November and the review processed finished with an blue
book in the next March. Please revise the planning dates.

BNSC: A similar point to Martin's. Why are there
several Red Books, culminating in one Blue Book? This may
be the most efficient way to proceed, but it should be
made clear what the connection between the red and blue
books will be.
DLR: Is the TCOAS blue book including the previous
issued red books?
there are different Red Books scheduled to be published
for June 2006. Are these books out for review?
