Subject: [CMC] CESG organization changes

Dear CMC Colleagues:

I believe the time has come to make some adjustments to our organization, in the wake of the loss of our colleague, Adrian.

I plan to immediately change the information on the CCSDS website to indicate that Nestor is acting CESG chair. “Acting” (or “transitional”) because we do not yet have a CMC poll to confirm him in that position.

I then propose that we initiate a CMC poll to confirm Nestor as the permanent CESG chair. NASA proposes that we will supply a nominee very soon, for the Deputy CESG Chair position. We also propose that we retain NASA and ESA as the CESG leaders, and that a poll for nominations from other agencies is not required for either the CESG Chair or Deputy Chair positions. We will wait a few days, to see if any agencies want to propose that a call for other nominations is really necessary. If there are no objections to this plan, we will initiate the CMC poll within a few days. If NASA can get a new nomination in place quickly, then perhaps we can have one poll for both the CESG Chair and Deputy Chair positions.

Also, we will take Adrian’s biography information, and move it to a “historical” section of the website, and augment it to tell the story of Adrian’s role in CCSDS.

So, if anyone has any concerns with these approaches and actions, please let us know.

Best regards,

   -=- Mike
