Thank you Mike for the update; both options are in principle feasible for me,
although December is not the best month to travel overseas due to the many
events and end of the year workload peak.

Regards
Juan

CMC members: A follow-up to the note below, concerning the Fall meeting.

Based on feedback from the CMC members, we have decided not to change the
dates of the Fall 2012 CCSDS Technical Plenary meeting. We are keeping it on
the week of October 15. We had to change venues in order to keep to that
date, but we seem to have been successful at that. We have now decided to
host the meeting in Cleveland Ohio at the Cleveland Renaissance Hotel.
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/clebr-renaissance-cleveland-hotel/
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msid=200895630052322285829.0004ba0e90249908bfda0&msa=0&ll=41.500928,-81.694636&spn=0.026549,0.030856

More details will be forthcoming. We encourage attendees to stay at the
Renaissance hotel, because we have to make a room block in order to afford
the meeting space there. Meeting logistics will be placed on the CCSDS
website soon.

For the CMC meeting we are still working two options:
   (1) Immediately following the Technical Plenary, October 22-24, in
Cleveland at the Ohio Aerospace Institute, near the Cleveland Airport.
   (2) In December, during the week of December 10, at the Kennedy Space
Center in Florida. This would be held in conjunction with the IOAG
meeting during that same week, and it would precede the TDRSS satellite
launch currently scheduled for that Saturday, December 15.

Option 2 is very contingent on (1) Availability of facilities at KSC, (2)
Ability to work the agendas so both CCSDS and IOAG can meet the same week
without overlap. Look for more proposals on this option in the future.

In any case, we can’t nail down the fall CMC meeting just yet. Feedback from
the CMC members on feasibility of these options is welcome.

So, that’s the news for now. Best regards,

   -=- Mike

Subject: [Secretariat] Info for CMC

CMC members: I have some info to pass along to you.

As NASA delegate:

   (1) We have had some setbacks in our decision process, and we have not
yet settled on the location for the Fall 2012 meetings. We expect to have
it resolved soon, but we need some feedback from our CMC colleagues. The
possible locations for the Technical Plenary are:
      a. University of Colorado at Boulder (repeat of Fall 2011
      meeting)
      b. Ames Research Center, near San Francisco California (On site at
Ames, but in the lower-security area)
      c. Cleveland Ohio, near the Glenn Research Center (in the
      Cleveland Marriott Hotel).

However, the venue for the Cleveland Ohio meeting is not available for the
week of October 15 for the Technical Plenary, and it would need to be
moved to the week of October 29. Note that this is the same week that we
had the meeting in Colorado for Fall 2011. If we host the Technical
Plenary on the week of either October 15 or October 29, are there any
issues with that schedule? If there are no issues, we will probably go
with the week of October 29.

   (2) I am sad to announce that due to budget cutbacks, NASA can no
longer afford to fund the Voice WG chairman. We will start the process of
finding a new Voice WG chair by soliciting nominations from the other
agencies. DLR has offered to nominate Osvaldo Peinado for a replacement
Voice WG chair. The SIS Area Director (Keith Scott) has asked Osvaldo to
organize the Voice WG preparation for the Darmstadt meeting until a new
chair is confirmed by the CMC.

Because the Darmstadt meeting is so close, I propose that we ask the
Secretariat to set up the CMC poll for nominations for only one week,
followed by a CMC poll for confirming the Voice WG chair for the usual two
weeks. This should allow us to confirm the WG chair quickly enough for
the WG to have a successful meeting in Darmstadt. If there are any
concerns or objections on this, just let us know.

As CMC chairman:

   (3) JAXA Infusion Table: In our last telecon, my mistake in the
agenda, and the lack of time for the telecon, cause us to skip one item.
JAXA was going to discuss their new version of the Infusion table, with
the presentation that is attached. Also, Shigeta-san’s note is below.
This will be for discussion in our Darmstadt meeting. But I wanted to
send it out now, since we did not have time during our last telecon.

   (4) Attached is the first version of the draft CMC agenda for the
   Darmstadt meeting.

   (5) Attached are the draft CMC minutes. These You can take a week to
provide comments/Corrections to Nick (in CC), and he can incorporate them
in the version he sends out for poll in about a week.

Best regards,
