It would be useful for picking up this activity in the future and for
anyone entering the discussion in the middle for the poll to include
reference to available working group material that provides more
details about the situation.
Results are based on responses from 9 out of 10 members (90%).

CMC E-Poll Identifier: CMC-P-2007-11-001 Ad-Hoc Editor for Working Groups
Results of CMC poll beginning 1 November 2007 and ending 21 November 2007:
ADOPT: 5 (55.56%) (ASI, CSA, DLR, JAXA, NASA)
ADOPT PROVISIONALLY: 3 (33.33%) (BNSC, CNES, INPE)
REJECT: 0 (0%)
REJECT WITH COMMENTS: 1 (11.11%) (ESA)
BNSC: This is not a provision, but a comment. I think it would
be useful if we could point to examples of documents that are
particularly good in terms of adhering to the publications manual.
CNES: 1) The editorial responsibility is then shared between
secretariat and ad-hoc editor. It should be made clear who will
evaluate that the document has reached "reasonable editorial quality"
and then the responsibility of next improvements is with the
secretariat ; in my view this falls under the WR chair or AD but it
should be stipulated in the resolution.
2) The case of the maintenance of existing documents was not
addressed. If not on purpose, it could be recommended that the same
applies for those documents with an even more reasonable objective of
cleaning the main deviations from the Publications Manual.
ESA: It is not a full rejection. We need something in that
direction, but may also need to discuss alternatives.
We have many WGs, thus this will lead to as many WG Ad Hoc Editors
with different interpretations / styles of what should be a quality
standard. We would need prior that very clear guidelines (annexe to
the publication document).
An alternative would be to have Area Ad Hoc Editors.
INPE: This is not a provision, but a comment. Most opportune
the pertinent comment made by BNSC. Indeed, it would be most
convenient that each 'Ad-Hoc Editor' may be informed about and have
easy access to a collection of exemplifying, publications manual
adherent documents that may serve as a practical reference, in
support to his/her editorial work.
Results are based on responses from 9 out of 10 members (90%).
No response was received from the following Agencies:
FSA
Secretariat Interpretation of Results: Rejected
Resulting CMC Resolution: None
Inferred Secretariat Action: Evaluate comments/provisions
