Adrian,
The vast majority of modulation and coding schemes mentioned are not
CCSDS-recommended schemes but all CCSDS-recommended schemes are in. The
marking-up you ask for is not easy given that the tables are pictures.
However, my opinion is that at this stage one must keep an open mind and
identify what schemes look best to suit the needs of the future programmes to
be supported by this infrastructure. At a later stage, one should investigate
whether the earmarked schemes do indeed offer benefits w.r.t. those currently
recommended by CCSDS. But first one needs to put together requirements which
are not there yet (as far as I know).

(02-14-07)
Dear IOAG Heads of Delegation:
Mr. James Costrell has asked me to forward to you the February 14, 2007
CMLP Study Report.
CCSDS Area Directors and cognizant CCSDS Working Group Chairs:
A agreed during our January meeting in Colorado Springs, please find the 14
February 2007 update to the "Coding, Modulation, and Link Protocol" (CMLP)
study that is being conducted by the NASA Space Communications Architecture
Working Group. To recap, this study is attempting to "cast a wide net" to
identify all possible space modulation, coding and link protocols, from which
a down-selection will later be made to identify those that are recommended
for standardized use within in NASA's future space mission support
infrastructure. In particular, please note:
slide 2 --
- Completed catalog of potential schemes
Codes
Modulation Types
Multiple Access Schemes
Link Protocol Attributes
- Sent catalog to outside consultants for review
- Invited CCSDS (Adrian Hooke) to develop a similar catalog
and slide 11 --
- For the Coming Weeks
Receive CCSDS catalogs and act on them
Jean-Luc and Gilles: could you guys please therefore mark-up slides 3-7 to
indicate: (a) any techniques that are missing from these catalogs but that
are currently in the CCSDS recommended suite and; (b) any of the techniques
that are specifically NOT recommended by CCSDS? You will also note on slide 8
that as far as the Link protocols are concerned, just a list of "Attributes"
is supplied. I'd ask you to kindly mark this list up from a CCSDS viewpoint
AND I'd also ask Greg Kazz to kindly supply a list of the recommended CCSDS
Link protocols.
Best regards
Adrian
