Adrian,
I like your suggestion of holding the CMC meeting on 8 April, plus 12+13
April. I agree that being able to attend the Space Day meeting will be
important, particularly for "waving the flag" for CCSDS as it will be
the first joint meeting.
Cheers
Peter

Subject: [CMC] CMC: flow of events for Athens meeting?
CCSDS Management Council members:
As you know, the CCSDS working groups will meet in conjunction with the
Object Management Group (OMG) in Athens during the week of 11-15 April
2005
(http://www.ccsds.org/meeting/2005spring/index.html)
On Monday afternoon, 11 April, it is planned to hold a joint OMG/CCSDS
Plenary session that the OMG loosely calls "Space Day". Its goal is to
expose the whole OMG community to the standards work that is being
performed in space. I would expect that this plenary session (3-4 hours)
will be dominated by CCSDS, with the OMG's own 'Space Domain Task Force'
(SDTF) being considered as an adjunct to MOIMS. Nominally, each of the
six
CCSDS Area Directors will be expected to deliver a ~30min comprehensive
technical overview of their program of work and status. Nestor Peccia
and I
will be discussing the overall agenda and schedule for this Plenary with
the OMG-SDTF people next week.
The CMC meeting is currently scheduled to be held on the following week
(19-21 April). However, at this point it is not clear if there will be
any
OMG participation in that meeting. So, given the importance of the
"Space
Day" plenary on Monday April 11th, it occurs to Nestor and I that the
CMC
may therefore want to reconsider when it meets. One possibility would be
to
hold the CESG meeting on 06-07 April, with the the CMC meeting beginning
on
08 April and concluding on 12-13 April. That would allow the CMC to be
present during the Monday plenary session, and to also have access to
their
OMG management counterparts.
The CMC is invited to discuss this possible meeting option. We should
try
to decide quite quickly whether to change the meeting schedule, since it
will impact our needs for meeting facilities.
Best regards
Adrian
