The Area Director for Space Internetworking Services Area has decided to
dissolve the Delay-Tolerant Networking (DTN) Birds Of a Feather group,
since: (1) the member agencies of CCSDS have in general not yet identified
near-term requirements for the capabilities of Delay-Tolerant Networking,
and; (2) the technical details of DTN architecture and the communication
protocols that implement that architecture are not yet stable enough to be
adopted as CCSDS Recommended Standards.

In accordance with CCSDS procedures, formation or dissolution of a BOF is
at the discretion of the Area Director. The DTN BOF is therefore dissolved
without recommending the formation of a DTN Working Group at this time.

The CESG recommends that the member agencies of CCSDS monitor and, as
appropriate, contribute to the progress of Delay-Tolerant Networking
research by participating in the activities of the DTN Research Group of
the Internet Research Task Force, and further recommends that interested
parties join the dtn-interest electronic mail discussion list:

dtn-interest at mailman.dtnrg.org

with reference to http://www.dtnrg.org.

Best regards

Adrian J. Hooke
Chairman, CCSDS Engineering Steering Group (CESG)
