Hello Brian,

Thanks very much for putting this together. I took a quick look through the "Submit a New Book Directions" and I do have a couple of questions:

  1. For books that are on a blue book track, will the submission also request upload/link to prototype test report and RID disposition report?
  2. Will Area Directors still be required to issue resolutions for agency review, publication polls? From my perspective, it would be nice if this was no longer required but only if the submission system could automatically log the request with some unique identifier for traceability/checking, etc.

I do look forward to reviewing this more thoroughly and discussing at the spring 2026 meetings.

Best regards,
-Erik

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [CESG] CCSDS Technical Editor Tracking System – Visibility & Next Steps

Dear CESG,
The Secretariat has been using the Technical Editor Queue (tracking system) for some time. This SharePoint-based tool is available within the Management Framework of the CCSDS CWE:

  *   Management Framework Homepage: https://spacecomm.sharepoint.com/sites/FM<https://urldefense.us/v3/__https:/spacecomm.sharepoint.com/sites/FM__;!!PvBDto6Hs4WbVuu7!IXBuxpf1S6fcJCmlfT2sq6gN0RGVv23d36wNCmIsEt1vqyW2zgRGDOyzn9YmpA3VEyef61ccagQRA6-EjrjYhH6Pm4oj$>
  * Technical Editor Tracking System (Open Items): https://spacecomm.sharepoint.com/sites/FM/Lists/TechEd/AllItems.aspx?viewid=0f219c76%2Dc127%2D4737%2D952e%2Df4fad459c616<https://urldefense.us/v3/__https:/spacecomm.sharepoint.com/sites/FM/Lists/TechEd/AllItems.aspx?viewid=0f219c76*2Dc127*2D4737*2D952e*2Df4fad459c616__;JSUlJQ!!PvBDto6Hs4WbVuu7!IXBuxpf1S6fcJCmlfT2sq6gN0RGVv23d36wNCmIsEt1vqyW2zgRGDOyzn9YmpA3VEyef61ccagQRA6-EjrjYhBSSp2CF$>
This system provides a level of transparency that was previously unavailable. It enables visibility into:

  * The status of books submitted for processing
  *   Assignment to Technical Editors
  * Progress through each stage of the process
As you are aware, a backlog developed over the past year. This tool has significantly improved the Secretariat’s ability to prioritize work and monitor progress effectively.
To date, all requests have been entered manually, as submissions originate from a mix of emails and formal resolutions. While this approach is currently workable, our goal is to transition to direct CESG use of the system for submitting book processing requests. This will streamline operations by reducing reliance on help desk tickets, resolution generation, and fragmented email chains.
The system continues to evolve and should be considered a Version 1.0 capability, with enhancements planned.
I will be attending the CESG meeting in Puerto Rico this spring and would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further. In the meantime, I encourage CESG members to begin using the system to both submit requests and monitor status.
For those interested in getting started, a step-by-step guide is available here:

I recognize this may generate questions or feedback—please feel free to share them, and I will ensure they are addressed.
Thank you,
