From erik.j.barkley at jpl.nasa.gov Thu Jul 3 17:55:45 2025 From: erik.j.barkley at jpl.nasa.gov (Barkley, Erik J (US 3970)) Date: Thu, 3 Jul 2025 17:55:45 +0000 Subject: [CESG] Update on proposed process for CESG review of the FRM Message-ID: CESG Colleagues, Following up from the spring 2025 CESG meeting, the CSS Area and Deputy Area Directors have had an email discussion on the proposed process for CESG review of the FRM (Functional Resource Model) taking into account the inputs from the CESG meeting. The key consideration that emerged from these discussions is that the FRM maintained in GitHub is in fact a serialized XML instance document conforming to OMG's XMI. As such, our conclusion is that it would be very difficult to review this and comment directly via GitHub. In the CSS area we make use of the eclipse modeling framework and eclipse plug-ins for running an FRM editor. Even if the CESG were to go through the whole process of installing eclipse and understanding how to run the editor it would in and of itself not be very conducive to reviewing and providing review comments. So our conclusion is that the original process making use of a word document which can be staged in the SharePoint for collaborative reviewing is in fact the best approach. An updated presentation capturing CESG review inputs and response has been uploaded to the CWE location for the spring 2025 CESG meeting and can be retrieved via the link below.
