That session shall be seen as a "workshop" , whose aim is to establish synergies (if any), areas of possible cooperation (if any), and roadmap (if any). Only at that point, and depending on the outcome of the discussion, the matter will/can be presented to the CESG. I understood from Andrew that it will not be problem for him to attend also other CCSDS sessions. So, a CESG discussion about the Glossary may be scheduled by the Spring 2020 Meeting. In general, I would like to stress that any (technical) topic that gets brought to the attention of the CESG must be preliminary assessed by a technical body. The CESG discussion shall be based on the outcome of the technical discussion. But I think you are aware that the SSG is really just about steering the SANA Operator's work and how the SANA handles its relationships with the CCSDS WG. This discussion seems to me to be more appropriate in the context of the CESG because arriving at any sort of collaboration on Glossary entries would mean that the CCSDS WG and the ECSS WG, or whatever technical apparatus that they have, would need to work together. The same is true, by the way, with the TC 20/SC 14 relationship that we have been working on for a while in the CESG context, and with CMC visibility. I think it would be more appropriate to have this discussion within the CESG before we start to try and work out the mechanics. As a result I have copied the CESG, and the CMC chair, to get their feedback. There are also technology developments that may be interesting for CCSDS.. We have agreed that he will attend the SSG meeting at the Thursday session, if ok with you, and give a short introduction of the work done by ECSS in this context. Andrew also mentioned the ISO TC20/SC14 interest into synergies in Glossary-related activities, which we are also aware of. I think at the SSG meeting we can look into areas of cooperation with ECSS and possibly establish a roadmap for future work. By the way, I will also (try and) attend the SSG Meeting. I am left wondering is this document is really best characterized as a Green Book, or if its contents and intended use really make it a Magenta Book in nature? Magenta Books, after all, state this: 6.1.4.3 Recommended Practices are normative and have prescriptive content but are typically not directly implementable for interoperability or cross support. Message-ID: Dear Secretariat, In alignment with today's CMC discussions, I wish to propose a new resolution to be forwarded to the CMC. It requests the CMC, or their designated AR, to update the agency materials in the Service Site and Apertures registries in the SANA. I have extracted the current set of SS&A entries into two Excel spreadsheets which are attached here. This is all the information we currently have in the SANA SS&A registry and the Service Site has one line per service site. Within each site, as shown in column "V", there is a list of Apertures, which are registered as the Object ID (OID) for the Aperture. There is a separate Aperture Excel Spreadsheet where the details of these Apertures are listed. For each Aperture there may be one or more forward links (column "E") and one or more return links (column "F"). It would be best if all of these items were updated at that same time. Thanks, Peter SEA-R-2019-10-03 Request that each Agency Representative (AR) be asked to review and update their entries in the SANA Service Site and Aperture (SS&A) registry, specifically for service site and aperture information. The System Engineering Area, CONSIDERING that: The CCSDS SANA Registry Management Policy (CCSDS 313.1-Y-1, May 2016) defines a CCSDS Service Site and Aperture (SS&A Registry (https://sanaregistry.org/r/service_sites_apertures), and that The CCSDS Service Management Working Group (SM WG) now requires valid information in this registry as data for their Schedule and Planning formats, and that The SANA Operator has created this registry, populated it with initial Service Site and Aperture values that were drawn from the IOAG registry, and that The SANA Operator has further updated and validated this SS&A registry to align with the database structure, and that The SEA SANA Steering group (SSG) and the CESG have reviewed and approved this request, and that The SEA AD has reviewed this resolution and agrees that it is ready to be sent to the CMC for approval. And RECOGNIZING that: A single, authoritative, registry of Service Sites and Apertures is essential for orderly conduct of CCSDS communications and cross support requests and scheduling, and that The CCSDS Member, Observer, and Associate organizations who develop and operate CCSDS compliant ground stations are the only authoritative source of this information, and that The RMP requires that each Agency or Associate must identify (or confirm) the Agency Representative (AR) who has responsibility for managing the entries in the SS&A registry, and that The SANA Operator will now process requests from authorized Agency Representatives to update their information, and that The SANA Operator will process requests from Agency Representatives for initial read only access to the SS&A registry, and that The SANA Operator will accept updates to the SS&A registries in the form of Excel spreadsheets (attached). RESOLVES to request: That the CCSDS Member, Observer, and Associate organizations who develop and operate CCSDS compliant ground stations review their information from the SS&A registry as provided in the attached Service Site and Aperture spreadsheets, and that The Agency Representatives for these organizations provide their updates for their sites and apertures in the attached spreadsheets, and that The SANA validate and then update the SS&A registry with these inputs and publish the integrated result. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... So that had me poking about in the ISO OIDs that were originally adopted in CSS area and now are very widely used in the Registry Management Policy (RMP), CCSDS 131.1-Y-1. The CCSDS base OID, as documented in the RMP and elsewhere, is 1.3.112.4. See RMP, sec 3.4.8.20. There is an on-line service that provides a mapping that is to be found at: http://www.oid-info.com/get/1.3.112.4 So I went to this URL, which had been used before, and it worked. But trying to look up http://www.oid-info.com/get/1.3.112.4.1, which should point to the CCSDS Organizations registry no longer works. I believe that this used to work and that it took us to the CCSDS registries in SANA. See attached screen shots. There is a process for registering other OID sub-registries. Would someone please look into this with this ISO OID registry and get this hooked back up so that it works correctly? I assume that is a Secretariat function, if not that perhaps it is directly something that the SANA Operator can manage as the CCSDS registrar? On a related note, I went looking in the Liaison list in the CCSDS website (https://public.ccsds.org/participation/liaisons.aspx) and I find that neither ISO TC20/SC13 (our ISO persona) nor ISO TC20/SC14, our sister organization in ISO, are listed as liaisons. Since we have active relationships with both of these organizations, I think that we should have links for them, and contacts, in our Liaison list. I think this is a Secretariat action and that not having them listed is just an oversight. Both of these do appear elsewhere in the CCSDS website at https://cwe.ccsds.org/cmc/docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=/cmc/docs/ISO%20TC20-SC13%20Subcommittee& and https://cwe.ccsds.org/cmc/docs/Forms/AllItems.aspx?RootFolder=%2Fcmc%2Fdocs%2FISO%20TC20%2DSC14%20Subcommittee&. These are linked from https://public.ccsds.org/about/ISO_TC20-SC13_contents.aspx, which is linked to from the main page. Neither of these provide the Liaison or PoC info that the other CCSDS Liaison organizations do, as shown on the Liaisons page. This ought to be remedied. Do you all agree? Agreed on the liaison listing of SC13 and SC14. SC14 already has CCSDS listed as a liaison (I believe so does SC13) on the ISO website. I think this just needs confirmation from CCSDS/CMC concerning the listing on the CCSDS site but I can’t recall what the process is for such confirmation. Symmetry in all things. Glad to see that SC14 is ahead of the curve. Do we know who the SC14 liaison contact might be? Also, while I have your attention, we are working a minor revision of the SC13 / SC14 liaison agreement through the CCSDS processes. This is to spell out the work to develop two new LAWIs. The CMC was reluctant to agree to the ones we had stated and wanted instead to specify that an ad hoc WG would develop the text for these, one re reference architecture and one re glossaries. Does that comport with your understanding, or do you think this is already a done deal?
