Michael,
During the last CCSDS Spring 2014 Technical meetings, the Cross Support
Area deemed as necessary to request the IOAG some clarifications . It
would be great if we can discuss them during the next mini IOAG meeting to
be held during SpaceOps 2014
Forward File Service: We assume that this is an application of GFT(Generic
File Transfer) to CFDP injection with the injection processing occurring
either in the Ground Station or in the MOC. This means COP-1 + CFDP can be
closed either at the Ground Station or the MOC..
To IOAG: Please can the IOAG discuss and clarify these scenarios ?
Note: the definition of Ground Tracking asset can consider different
cases, two of which (list not exhaustive) are detailed below
MOC +Ground Station when two Agencies are implied : In this case the MOC
of Agency X sends the files to the Agency Y: the CFDP Entity will
(reasonably) be run at the MOC of Agency Y .
Only Ground Station when transferring files within one Agency: The MOC of
one Agency sends files for uplink to the GS of that Agency: Only in this
case the issue about COP-1 and CFDP closed at the Station may raise. .
Return File Service: We assume that this is an application of GFT to CFDP
injection with the extraction processing occurring either in the Ground
Station or in the MOC. This means CFDP can be closed either at the Ground
Station or the MOC..
To IOAG: Please can the IOAG discuss and clarify these scenarios ?
Note: Clarification of Forward File Service also applies in this case.
Return Unframed Telemetry:
To IOAG: Does the ANSI standard based SLE RAF satisfy this need?
Radiometric Offline Delivery:
CCSDS CSS Area sees this as an application of GFT with TDM payload.
To IOAG: Is that a correct understanding?
It is clear that the CCSDS will "tailor" the options of the various
services implied, for building up the required capability (Forward File
Transfer, Return File Transfer, Radiometric Off-line Service, etc). It
might be a very small / slim service definition is required.
