Therefore, thank you for complying with the CCSDS Org & Proc. My condition is now fully met and I do recognise that Chris fully qualifies for the proposed task. Best regards, __Mario -----Original Message----- From: Shames, Peter M (US 312B) Sent: 30 November 2021 23:15 To: Mario Merri Cc: Stafford, Laura ; CCSDS Engineering Steering Group - CESG All Subject: Re: [EXTERNAL] [Cesg-all] Results of CESG Poll closing 26 November 2021 Hi Mario, I agree that we should use the same "rules" for everyone. That said, there is no "rule" in the CCSDS Org & Proc doc that says anything about providing a resume, nor a CV, nor anything else like that. What the rules do say is this: 2.3.3.4 Working Group Chairs Working Group chairs are approved by the CESG. Candidates for selection as WG chairs must be recognized as a leading technical expert in the field covered by that WG. Candidates may come from any organization (including industry) and do not have to be employees of space agencies. For existing WGs requiring a replacement chair or deputy chair, the respective AD may propose a candidate. For both new and replacement chairs and deputy chairs, in the interest of fairness, the respective AD shall also invite the CMC via e-mail to propose additional candidates and potential resources. As a courtesy to you, and to get this to move along, I am providing Chris Volk's resume. But I wish to be clear that there is nothing in our processes that requires this. I do agree that in cases where there is someone who is totally new to the organization, and to standards work, that seeing a resume may help to assess whether they meet the criteria "must be recognized as a leading technical expert in the field covered by that WG ". In this case, since Chris has been working in support of D-DOR for a few years, that just did not seem to be in question. An issue to discuss is crew inability to safe themselves when inappropriate security measures lock them out. Consider adding a Tainted Software section similar to 3.4.11 TAINTED HARDWARE COMPONENTS. Same logic could apply. Consider adding some discussion on how “Probabilities” were determined in treat analysis tables. That would be very useful to the target audience. Consider adding some discussion on time distribution. Accurate clocks are key to navigation and communications protocols such as DTN. Missions have proposed NTP for vehicle to vehicle time synchronization which brings issues with jumps in time forward/backwards, time convergence latency, which could be threats either intended or unintended.
