All of the models in Sec 4 have been "colorized", but they are inconsistent in their use of colors. They are also a real mish-mash of styles, with different drawing objects and colors being used to represent what should be the same object types in various diagrams. It is confusing at best and adhere to no known, or described, style. RASDS and/or UML/SysML styles should have been adopted consistently. There are also a number of definition and terminology issues that should be addressed during this document update. Issues are marked in the attached PDF file. See attached RID. Keith Scott (Approve with Conditions): I have the following comments on the document. Items 2 and 3a are I think actual technical issues. The rest can be considered editorial. ==== Item 1 ==== Section 1.5.1 seems superfluous -- the document does not define any packet formats or other structures that have to do with bit positions. ==== Item 2 ==== I don't think the Mandatory Features in the Service Conformance Statement Proforma should be 'pre-checked' -- they sort of HAVE to be checked by the implementer, but it's up to them to do it. ==== Item 3a ==== Section 3.2(c) references signaling from the underlying layer (Red/Yellow/Green) which may be *link* dependent. If the MTS is implemented via the AMS protocol and if AMS is run over something that uses a network layer (assume, for the purpose of argument, that TCP would meet the requirements of 3.2(b)) then the signaling might involve a path, not just a single link. Maybe c) could say [my highlighting via **]: -- c) provide a means for signalling the result of data transmission which may be **specific to the underlying data transport mechanism** (at least Red=failure, Yellow=unknown or partial, Green=OK). -- That would cover link- and network- layer signaling. ==== Item 3b ==== Only one 'l' in 'signaling' (there are two in item (c)) ==== Item 4 ==== 3.3.1 (i): I think the text 'Use of the SOIS Subnetwork Packet Service is recommended for Message Transfer Service.' should be a NOTE (it's a recommendation, not a requirement). ==== Item 5 ==== It seems like the 'how to deploy over the SOIS Subnetwork Packet Service' requirements, like 3.3.1 (k) should be in one place. Annex D in the document does that, in an informative (non-normative) way. It seems odd to have little bits of normative 'how to delploy this over SOIS subnetwork packet service' text scattered throughout the document and then to NOT have those reflected in a NORMATIVE annex. I realize that this is probably too difficult to fix at this stage without putting the book out for another agency review, and I'm not pushing hard for a change here. It was mentioned by the ISO TC20/SC13 Chairman, Mr. Bergamini, that besides those ISO related liaisons which are in need of confirmation and definition of their internal (i) and external (e) individuals associated to their liaison roles, there are also other non-ISO entities, as also presented in the meeting, which are in need of such a confirmation and definition of the bilateral liaison contact individuals. Mr. Bergamini also mentioned that it will be probably the case where some of the non-ISO liaisons may end up being, if any, of interest for CCSDS only, but not of interest for ISO TC20/SC13. The major goal is that the list of liaisons may end up being the same for CCSDS and ISO TC20/SC13 but, with some clearly defined exceptions which will represent those liaisons of CCSDS interest, only. Associated, combined action items will be taken by CCSDS and ISO TC20/SC13, for reaching a stable list of liaisons, for both bodies, under the mentiioned, basic premises. JAXA: Concerning the draft minutes of the Moscow CMC meeting, JAXA would like to propose deleting the sentence regarding the lunch presentation mentioned by JAXA, which is on page 5, for 15.Meeting Planning. JAXA raised this idea supposing that it was still requested to suggest activities for the 30th anniversary of spring 2012 meeting (Action of CMC-A-2011-05-02). Since this is no longer requested, we no longer need this sentence. Alternate proposal is to replace the sentence with the following; JAXA proposed an idea of lunch presentation on international/regional activities on space-technology-application. ESA will ask CMC members if presentation is required. [Secretariat Note: After further discussion after the Moscow meeting, it was determined that a lunch presentation was no longer needed.] Results are based on responses from 6 out of 11 members (54.55%). Proximity-1 Space Link Protocol--Coding and Synchronization Sublayer. Pink Book. March 2012. DOCUMENT DESCRIPTION: The CCSDS Recommended Standard for Proximity-1 Space Link Protocol--Coding and Synchronization Sublayer specifies the synchronization and channel coding schemes used with the Proximity-1 Data Link Protocol. This draft update includes several improvements and clarifications--accomplishing better alignment and consistency with the other Proximity-1 Blue Books--and the addition of an option for Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes. LOTAR is being supported by the big players in the aerospace industry, and is based on the CCSDS OAIS standard. ciao nestor ============================================================= LOng Term Archiving and Retrieval - LOTAR The objective of LOTAR International is to develop standards for long-term archiving (LTA) of digital data, such as 3D CAD and PDM data. These standards will define auditable archiving and retrieval processes. Use of the standard series by other branches of industry such as the automotive or shipbuilding industry is possible. The results are harmonized with e.g. the Recommendation 4958 for long-term archiving of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) and are based on the ISO 14721, Open Archival Information System (OAIS) Reference Model. The documents for the standard are published as the EN9300 series and, in cooperation with the AIA, also as the National Aerospace Standard (NAS). LOTAR International is a project being conducted by leading OEMs and suppliers in the aerospace and defense industry under the joint auspices of ASD-STAN, AIA, PDES Inc. and the ProSTEP iViP Association. ASD = Aeronautics and Space Federation of Europe (HQ in Brussels, Belgium) AIA = Aerospace Industry Association (HQ in Arlington, VA, USA) Close cooperation with the PDES, Inc. / ProSTEP iViP CAx Implementor Forum ensures implementation reliability. The LOTAR project consortium consists of user companies from around the world. Member companies include Airbus, BAE Systems, Boeing, Dassault Aviation, EADS, Eurocopter, General Dynamics, Goodrich, IAI, Lockheed Martin, SAFRAN, Sandia, and Spirit. Goals of the project include: Developing a standard series for archiving and retrieval of product data Standardization of referred and needed methods, process modules and data models Providing methods, process modules and data model(s), to enable long-term archiving and retrieval of CAD and PDM data, but e.g. also for electrical, composite design data Development of recommendations for practical introduction of long-term archiving of relevant data at industry Having COTS based on user requirement due to cooperation with CAx-IF and conjoined funded pilot projects The LOTAR development of a worldwide-accepted standard for long-term archiving of a 3D master and product structure is an international collaboration of the Aerospace Industries Association of America (AIA) and the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe for Standardization (ASD-STAN), under the supervision of the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG).
