CESG E-Poll Identifier: CESG-P-2011-03-004 Approval to dissolve
Information Architecture Working Group
Results of CESG poll beginning 30 March 2011 and ending 15 April 2011:
Abstain: 0 (0%)
Approve Unconditionally: 8 (100%) (Shames, Peccia, Thompson,

CONDITIONS/COMMENTS:
Erik Barkley (Approve Unconditionally): Comments only (does
not affect the vote): The IAWG was intended to address one thread of
an overall CCSDS deficiency that was recognized at the SuperBOF
meeting held at ESTEC in October 2009. This was the so-called "SOA
for Space" activity. I would like to suggest that CESG bear in mind
that lack of resources/interest should not to be confused with
solving the issues/ need for detailed standards re services that will
eventually support such visionary activities as the confederated data
systems needed to manage Space Internetworking. So, although it is
clear this WG is not moving forward, I believe that CESG would do
well to maintain cognizance over appropriate standards being
developed by industry at large.

CESG E-Poll Identifier: CESG-P-2011-03-005 Approval to release CCSDS
355.0-R-1, Space Data Link Security Protocol (Red Book, Issue 1)
for CCSDS Agency review
Results of CESG poll beginning 30 March 2011 and ending 15 April 2011:
Abstain: 0 (0%)
Approve Unconditionally: 7 (87.5%) (Peccia, Thompson, Barkley,
Taylor, Calzolari, Moury, Durst)
Approve with Conditions: 1 (12.5%) (Shames)
Disapprove with Comment: 0 (0%)
CONDITIONS/COMMENTS:
Peter Shames (Approve with Conditions): The document is in
very good shape, but there are some minor issues and a question:
1) Why is Porx-1 not addressed along with TM, TC & AOS? Is there the
assumption that if data is securely delivered to space that relaying
it is then not a problem?
2) There is no PICS Pro Forma. This could be left for the next rev
of the doc, but one is needed.
3) Section 2.2 seems to overstate the "features of the protocol". It
does not preserve sequence, it just signals it.
4) Minor other edits marked in text.
Bob Durst (Approve Unconditionally): Per section 1.7.1
"b) the word 'should' implies an optional, but desirable, specification;"
I believe that the "should" in 4.1.2.2 needs to be a "shall."
"4.1.2.2 If authentication is not selected for an SA, this field
should be zero octets in length"
But I'm not really here, and this isn't a condition for approval...
