THEME: Achieving Operationally Responsive Ground Systems

Today, new and existing ground systems are being required to
become more operationally responsive. We must reduce the time
from user request to system response, and rapidly adapt existing
ground systems for new capabilities, missions, and interfaces. For
GSAW’s twelfth year, we are looking for professionals with
experience and insights into software and system architecture
issues for operationally responsive spacecraft ground systems. This
is the forum for the world’s spacecraft ground system experts to
collaborate with other ground system users, developers, and
researchers through presentations, working groups, and panel
discussions on issues and solutions. GSAW’s affiliation with
government and civilian organizations provides an unparalleled
opportunity to advance the state of practice and research in
architectures for spacecraft ground systems.

GSAW2008 is soliciting presentations covering all aspects of
spacecraft ground systems with a special focus on flexible ground
system architectures that are more responsive to user timeliness
issues and changing requirements. Sessions will address
methodologies, lessons learned, business cases and advanced
technologies for topics including:

* Net-centric and service-oriented architectures
* Systems-of-systems, horizontal integration and complex systems
* Architecture modeling
* Frameworks and infrastructure
* Space and ground communication architectures
* Interoperability and standards
* Off-the-shelf and open-source components and software reuse
* Information assurance, security and cyber warfare
* Operations and sustainment
* Autonomy and automation
* Human factors
* Mission assurance
* Program, risk and change management

PLENARY PRESENTATIONS
Presentations will be fifteen minutes in length. Submit an abstract
describing the results of your work, work in progress, or case
studies relevant to one or more of the workshop's focus issues.
Abstracts must not exceed two pages in length plus a cover page
and should summarize the claims, scope, methodology, and

WORKING GROUPS
Working Groups will be four hours in length. Submit a proposal
for a working group session related to any of the focus issues of

TUTORIALS
Full and half-day tutorials are being held March 31, the day before
the regular workshop program begins. We are seeking proposals
for instructive tutorials on topics related to the GSAW2008 theme
and focus issues. Instructor guidelines may be found on the website.

UNCLASSIFIED SESSION INFORMATION
The hotel will host the general workshop at which there will be
international attendees. Plenary presentations and working group
summaries will be made available on the website and published on a
CDROM distributed to registered attendees. Send submissions and

CLASSIFIED SESSION INFORMATION
A classified session will be hosted April 3 at The Aerospace
Corporation. The classification level of the presentations will be up
to TS/SI/TK. All attendees will be required to have a TS/SCI clearance.

Presenters are responsible for ensuring that all submissions are cleared

for presentation to their respective audiences. The language for the
workshop is English.
