Folks: there is some good possibility (though it is not yet certain) that
the Spring 2006 CCSDS meeting will be held in Rome from 12-16 June, 2006.
That is the week preceding SpaceOps 2006
http://www.spaceops2006.org/content.cfm?pageid=0&lumeetingid=1317&viewcon=overview.

The theme of SpaceOps 2006 is "Earth, Moon, Mars, and Beyond" The
preliminary program topics include at least one session on "The Space
Operations Community: Other Views and Experiences - Standardization"

This schedule would present an excellent opportunity for a strong CCSDS
presence in SpaceOps. In fact, I would like to suggest that every CCSDS
Working Group should plan on getting a paper accepted. This is a great way
to alert the community about what is current in CCSDS, and those papers can
then be referenced on the CCSDS website. An accepted paper is also a good
metric by which the performance of your WG can be assessed by the CMC.

The SpaceOps CFP is supposed to be released this month. Please watch for
it, and please start planning towards a first rate set of papers to be
submitted.

Also, since there may be a 9-month gap between Atlanta and a possible Rome
meeting, you may want to factor that into your planning in terms of any
intermediate meetings that you may need. There is also some distinct
possibility that we will move towards a single "plenary" type meeting,
nominally in the June timeframe each year. In between those annual
meetings, you are likely to be "on your own" to arrange meeting hosting.

Best regards
Adrian
