<div>A suggestion:</div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Replace the Bypass flag with a Sub-channel format flag (Since the sequence control for a VC is managed then the flag is not really required): </div>
<div><br>
</div>
<div>Flagging the contents of the contained VCS-SDU as containing or not containing sub-channels, thus identifies the basic structure of the VCS_SDU. The VCS-SDU header identifies the sub-channel but and the sub-channel management rules will complete the
header structure (The structure of the VCS_SDU field is managed by the rules established for the VC and the VCS thus there is also no requirement to signal this information). The combination of the flag in the frame header and the second bit of the DTID
field identifies completely the VCS-SDU structure and the type of data it contains.</div>

<div>Please consider it for the Next Generation Space Data Link Protocol</div>
