rate sections and in particular with the table giving coded symbol and
date rates.</font><br><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">I take as example the Transmitter Data
Rate section A1.2.3.5 but the comments apply also to the two other sections(Receiver Data Rate and Set PL) where these data rates are repeated.</font><br><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">The table shows that 4096000 sps could
correspond to 4096000 bps in the uncoded case. However, this option has
been removed from the list of possible modes since 4 Msps can only be generated
after encoding. Therefore, the last line of the table should have a N.A.
in the second column.</font><br><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">The second problem is with 1 kbps. According
to your table, this data rate is always encoded and therefore the minimum
coded symbol rate is 2 ksps. This is inconsistent with the PL book that
starts with 1 ksps. If 1 ksps can be transmitted (please advise if this
mode is implemented - the ESA equipment cannot), then we need to add a
line to the table showing 1000, 1000, N.A., N.A. in the four columns.</font><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">If it is not required, then we need
to change the PL book by removing the 1 ksps data rate and changing "13
values" to "12 values" in the relevant text of the same
book.</font><br><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">Additionally, I also have comment aimed
at avoiding RIDs during agency review. I understand the system now and
so I can live with it. However, somebody else may be confused. </font><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">The table of the data rates is repeated
in 3 different sections and is identical. However, two sections deal with
the "standard" data rates (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 and 256 kbps)
while one makes also available the other data rates (1, 512, 1024 and 2048
kbps) by the PL extension command. A note is added in the first two sections
stating "1, 512, 1024, and 2048 kbps data rates can be selected using
the SET PL EXTENSIONS directive, see A.1.7.".</font><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">I would propose adding the word "only"
between "can" and "be selected" and copying this text
also below the two first occurrences of the same table.</font><br><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">With this I have no further comments.
It's been a painful exercise but fruitful.</font><br><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">Thanks to you, Matt and the others for
the mutual understanding of each other's problems.</font><br><br><font size="2" face="sans-serif">Enrico</font><br><br><br><br><table width="100%"><tbody><tr valign="top"><td><font size="1" color="#5f5f5f" face="sans-serif">From:</font></td><td><font size="1" face="sans-serif">"Kazz, Greg J (313B)" <<a href="mailto:greg.j.kazz@jpl.nasa.gov">greg.j.kazz@jpl.nasa.gov</a>></font></td></tr><tr valign="top"><td><font size="1" color="#5f5f5f" face="sans-serif">To:</font></td><td><font size="1" face="sans-serif">"<a href="mailto:sls-slp@mailman.ccsds.org">sls-slp@mailman.ccsds.org</a>"
