selected for their 'normal' EESS (Earth Exploration Satellite Service) data

mentions MSL Electra for LDPCC addition, but it would be very interesting to
know which kind of  backward compatibility is included in Electra upgrade
with LDPCC.</span> <br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Arial","sans-serif"'>I am sure that
this information will be very valuable for those missions that will stick to
the former Proxi-1 coding for missions flying or under (frozen) development.</span>

to request that LDPC coding applied over the Proximity link be made into a Work
Item for study in the CCSDS C&S WG and to be included into the agenda for
the Spring 2010 meeting.</span> <br>
<span style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>NASA has
submitted it’s white paper on LDPC coding over the Proximity link as proposed
at the Fall CCSDS meeting at ESTEC and I believe since a month has passed all
agencies now have had time to consider the issues explored in the paper. Given
the enhanced focus on cooperation between ESA and NASA in the Mars Enterprise
for 2016 and 2018 and beyond and the potential benefits LDPC coding provides to
these missions, I believe it is prudent for the C&S WG to take on this
topic as a new work item. I also believe other agencies  besides NASA and
potentially ESA are interested in having CCSDS pursue this as a work item as
well. </span><br>
