Well the best to figure out what is going on is if you can provide the
following

    1) For the gateway was configured/compiled (e.g., the ./configure
options)
    2) A copy of the rfile you are using.
    3) A simple topology map including IP addresses.

Best Regards

    Pat

Subject: [Sis-SCPS-INTEREST] Linux\TAP SCPS setup help please!

	Hi,

I'm in need of a little help!

I'm working on a project at the moment that is looking at how
SCPS affects the performance of TCP over a particular satellite link
which is modelled by our in house network emulator.

I have installed the latest version of SCPS exactly as the
"Compiling for Linux 2.4 Based Kernels - TAP" part of the installation
guide tells me to on Linux machines with kernel 2.4.18-3.

I have set it up on a simple 4 node network (A---B---C---D)
with a source (A),destination (D) and SCPS on nodes B and C acting as
the SCPS gateways (with the link between B and C being the emulated
satellite link with delay of 270ms).

I load the gateway executable (in the bin directory) on the
nodes fine and it starts up and sets up aif, bif and the bridging
without any errors. I can ping between A and D no problem.

I decided at this point to setup a test very similar to the one
I have seen in the http://www.scps.org/Documents/SCPStests.PDF document
- the "2Mbps corruption test" to make sure I had it all setup
correctly.

I setup the test with a Link Bit Error Rate of 1.00E-06 which
should show a difference in throughput between TCP and SCPS. However,
the FTP transfer completes successfully but both TCP (on its own) and
SCPS give exactly the same transfer speed.

I investigated a bit further on the net and found that I should
be seeing option 20 in the SYN, SYN ACK if SCPS has been negotiated
properly, however when I run through ethereal I don't see this option
anywhere which suggests SCPS isn't actually being used at all?! The
rfile I am using is very similar to the default one and I am pretty
much out of ideas as to what I am doing wrong. As far as I can tell
from all the documentation I have read through I have set up everything
I need to which is why I am asking for a little help! Can anyone shed
some light on what I am doing wrong or if I am missing out something
vital! - I hope I have given you enough information!

	Thanks

	Robin
