Hey, yeah I have a handful of charts that I can present at the IETF meetings that goes over high level details of the IMC Orange Book. I have not submitted a request for an agenda item however as I do not know what needs to be done for
that. As for where we are going with the Orange Book that is more of a SIS-DTN group decision. The intent was to get something on the books so it can be referenced while we continue working it, but if the plan is to move the Orange Book to a Blue Book with
just the IMC Scheme and basic forwarding or if we want to incorporate the rest of the desired pieces when we move to the Blue Book I do not know. Also, I think we need to have more conversations on whether we want to continue using the current variation of
the IMC scheme, where it is imc:digit.digit, or copy the new authority variation of IPN. DTNME does not implement the new method so for the Orange Book we probably need to stick what is current working, but we could always change when we move to the Blue Book.

All,

I think it would be good to give some small awareness to the IETF DTN WG about ongoing work in the CCSDS. Two things that would be particularly helpful are:

A mention of the BPv7 blue book and its allocating a
new LTP Client Service code point specifically for BPv7 PDU transport. This is not well-known outside of CCSDS and there was some recent confusion about what types of SDUs an LTPCL needs to demultiplex.
The new LTP code point will be exclusively for BPv7 as far as I know, and the old “Bundle” LTP code point can be (functionally) deprecated along with the service data aggregation one.

A mention of the IMC scheme work and what is expected to be the full outcome of an orange book. I’m actually not sure whether the orange book will be the end of the ‘experiment’ phase
or if there is an expectation that the orange book itself will be used to allocate entries in the IANA URI and EID scheme registries (which are both just “specification required” and don’t need RFC action to allocate).

I don’t have insight into any other details of these, so I’m asking for someone else’s time to provide a couple of slides and a few minutes on the IETF agenda. I could point to the right place and process to get on the agenda and get slides
uploaded if it would help.
