Yes indeed this is a point worth discussing at the meeting next Friday. I copy also Scott who was certainly involved in similar discussions years ago and could provide some bits for the way forward.

Tomaso

Subject: [SIS-CFDPV1] Suspend/Resume & Reception Opportunity for Class 1 Receiver

Hi,

I have recently noticed that a CFDP Class 1 Receiver does not implement Reception Opportunity Procedures (4.12.2.5) or Resume Procedures (4.6.8) per the standard (see Table 7-1). Actually, I don't see a reason for not requiring that for the Class 1 Receiver (at least as an optional feature). On the contrary, I would see this as quite useful: we quite often use CFDP Class 1 on the uplink (because it is using the sequence-controlled service, so there is reliability). Now, if we have to uplink a large file (e.g., software patch) and this would take several ground station passes, it would be good to have the option to suspend/resume (or use the reception opportunity).
So, I am wondering if there are any reasons why this feature has not been included for the Class 1 Receiver (we have it for the Class 1 Sender)?
We should discuss it at the upcoming meeting.

Regards,
Felix
