<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">You may or may not know that CCSDS process requires CESG/CMC Polls are required for reconfirmation of a previously published standard... I only say this because I was not aware of this fact when the Navigation
WG voted to reconfirm the Pointing Request Message 509.0-B-1 during the Fall 2023 Meetings at The Hague. I attribute my lack of awareness of the reconfirmation process to the fact that the Navigation WG had previously always chosen to "revise" standards as
a result of the 5 Year Review process (i.e., retire/reconfirm/revise)... we had never at that point chosen to "reconfirm" a standard.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Anyway, the CCSDS Navigation WG recently performed its 5 Year Review of the Re-Entry Data Message 508.1-B-1, and the consensus of the group was that (a) there was no justification for retirement of the standard,
and (b) there was no known compelling reasons for revision of the standard. With the “retire” and “revise” options thus eliminated, the only remaining option was to “reconfirm”. There were no objections to reconfirmation of the Re-Entry Data Message.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt">Accordingly, the CCSDS Navigation WG would like to request that CESG and CMC polling be commenced to formalize the decision of the Navigation WG to reconfirm 508.1-B-1 Re-Entry Data Message.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
